US Per Capita Emissions Highest Among Major Economies

New data from the Global Carbon Project shows that the United States maintains the highest per capita CO2 emissions among major economies at 14.2 tonnes per person. This is nearly triple the global average of 4.9 tonnes and seven times higher than India's 2.0 tonnes per capita.

The data highlights the significant lifestyle and infrastructure changes needed in wealthy nations to achieve global climate goals. Transportation and housing remain the largest contributors to American emissions.
